Solvay is a Belgian based company, was founded in 1863 and specialises in
the production of chemicals and high performance
polymers with production plants worldwide. Solvay produces a diverse range
of materials: amorphous polymers, semi-crystalline polymers, partially and
fully fluorinated polymers as well as fluoroelastomers and fluorinated fluids.
more of what you’re looking for
With the introduction of KetaSpire™ PEEK (polyetheretherketone), Solvay Advanced Polymers gives you more of what you’re looking for. Considered one of the highest performing, fully thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymers available today, it is an integral part of the SolvaSpire™ ultra polymers family. KetaSpire PEEK is produced to the highest industry standards and is characterized by a distinct combination of properties, which include –
• Excellent chemical resistance to organics, acids and bases
• Exceptional retention of mechanical properties up to 300°C
• Best-in-class fatigue resistance
• Excellent wear resistance
• Ease of melt processing
• High purity
discover a new world - THE WORLD OF SOLVAY WEAR-RESISTANT PLASTICS
Solvay wear-resistant plastics really take the heat.
Some of the most demanding uses for plastics include high-performance bearings, bushings, gears,
washers, slides and seal rings. They have to withstand high temperature, wear, load and aggressive
chemicals in both dry and lubricated environments.
Solvay wear-resistant plastics are formulated to give you just the right combination of mechanical
and

tribological properties. This, combined with inherent heat and chemical resistance, makes them
an effective alternative to metal in high-temperature friction and wear applications.
Their many distinctive
performance attributes include:
• Long-term use from 120-265°C
• Short-term use up to 280°C
• Dry and lubricated environments
• Self-lubricating for longer life
• Lighter weight and less noise
• Non-corrosive and non-galling

more reliable HIGH-PERFORMANCE PLASTICS for water handling systems
Solvay offers four distinct families of high-performance plastics for use in water handling applications: cross-linkable polyethylene, fluoropolymers, sulfone polymers and semi-aromatic
polyamides. Their proven ability to cost-effectively outperform brass and copper in pipes, fittings, manifolds, taps and valves accounts for their growing success in pressurized systems
used for drinking water, heating and industrial applications.

Fluoropolymers
Solef® PVDF polyvinylidene fluoride
Provides outstanding resistance to chemicals, UV light and fatigue, along with exceptional barrier properties, scratch resistance and ease of processing. High LTHS values make it well-suited for fittings used in multilayer piping systems that operate under high pressure (up to 10 bar) and temperatures up to 95°C.
Halar® ECTFE ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene
Partially fluorinated polymer that combines excellent mechanical properties with exceptional resistance to heat and chemicals. Fills the performance gap between PVDF and fully fluorinated polymers.
Sulfone Polymers
Radel® R PPSU - polyphenylsulfone
Offers higher fatigue resistance, better chemical resistance and significantly higher impact strength than PSU. It has the highest LTHS of any sulfone polymer, making it well-suited for fittings used
in multilayer piping systems that operate under high pressure (up to 10 bar) and temperatures up to 95°C.
Acudel® modified PPSU
Proprietary formulations that fill the cost-performance gap between PPSU and PSU. They provide toughness and chemical resistance along with hydrolytic and dimensional stability for plumbing systems with less demanding pressure and temperature requirements.
Udel® PSU - polysulfone
Exhibits low creep, good toughness and excellent dimensional stability in hot water and steam. These attributes combine with proven resistance to oxidative aging to make it a cost-effective material for applications requiring continuous exposure to hot chlorinated water.
Polidan® PEX - cross-linkable polyethylene
Used in monolayer and multilayer piping systems, this family of silane cross-linkable polyethylene compounds offers outstanding flexibility and strength from below freezing up to 95°C. These materials are highly resistant to wear, creep and chemical attack as well as crack formation and propagation. Specialty grades for thermal welding, in-situ cross-linking and industrial applications are available.
